PORTRAIT OF H. M. QUEEN VICTORIA, FULL LENGTH STANDING, IN CEREMONIAL ROBES, MID 19th CENTURY: SIGNED BOUDA - AFTER SIR FRANCIS GRANT (1803-1878)

A very decorative and well executed oil on canvas portrait of Queen Victoria, in the style of the portraits of the young Queen painted by Sir Francis Grant. The young queen is depicted wearing full ceremonial robes.

Sir Francis Grant (1803–1878) was a Scottish portrait painter who painted Queen Victoria and many distinguished British aristocratic and political figures of the day. In 1834 he exhibited at the Royal Academy and in the ensuring years he became the fashionable portrait-painter of the day. For the next nearly forty years the most graceful and refined portraits in the Royal Academy Exhibitions came from his studio with him, between 1834 and 1879, contributing no less than 253 works, many of which were full-length portraits, to the exhibitions of the Royal Academy.
