PAIR OF MINIATURE PORTRAITS OF AN OFFICER AND HIS WIFE: BRITISH PROVINCIAL SCHOOL. c.1800
A fine pair of miniature portraits of an officer and his wife, both seated. Held within a
pair of good matching frames.
Original label verso on the female portrait reads: "Lady Christian, copied by a native
of India from an original picture by Northcote".
Portraits such as these were very popular with the British in the colonies. Possibly
painted on ivory, as was very typical of these types of miniatures.
